British Library
Our pupils enjoyed a thrilling trip to the British Library to explore the ‘Secret Maps’ exhibition. It was far from a standard geography lesson! The children discovered how maps have been used to hide secrets and share stories throughout history.
They saw everything from ancient medieval charts to complex routes used by famous shipping companies. The highlight for many was a clever silk map hidden on a pair of WWII knickers—designed to help pilots escape if they were captured!
As one pupil put it: ‘I never knew maps could be so interesting!’
