School Council
At Saracens Broadfields, we believe that pupil voice is a vital part of school life.
Our School Council provides an excellent opportunity for children to develop leadership skills, take on responsibilities, and actively contribute to the improvement of our school community.
Structure and Elections
Unlike traditional class-based councils, our School Council is made up of:
- Head Boy and Head Girl
- Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl
- Twelve additional elected members
All representatives are elected annually from Year 6 through a formal campaign and voting process. Candidates prepare and deliver speeches, learning how to present their ideas and inspire others. This process provides pupils with first-hand experience of a democratic system.
Purpose and Role
The School Council works to:
- Listen to the views and ideas of pupils across the school
- Provide a platform for raising concerns and making improvements
- Organise and lead whole-school initiatives and fundraising events
- Model active citizenship and leadership
School Council members meet weekly to discuss ideas, plan events, and monitor progress. They use feedback from pupils to shape projects and initiatives, and they report back through class discussions and assemblies.
Key Events Organised by the School Council
School Council members take pride in leading a range of exciting and successful school-wide events, including:
- The Winter Ball
- Break the Rules Day
- Takeover Day
These events not only raise funds but also contribute to building a strong sense of community and enjoyment within the school.
