Healthy School at Saracens Broadfields

At Saracens Broadfields Primary School, we are proud to be a Healthy School where children’s physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a culture of health for pupils, families, and staff through nutritious meals, active lifestyles, and dedicated support for mental health.

Healthy Breakfast Club

We offer a healthy, subsidised breakfast every morning from 7.55am, ensuring that every child has a nutritious start to their day. This non-profit service is designed to help children focus, learn, and thrive from the very first lesson.

The Walking Bus

Our popular Walking Bus encourages pupils to start their mornings with gentle exercise, fresh air, and social interaction. It also helps reduce congestion around the school and promotes road safety awareness.

Home-Made Lunches Cooked On-Site

We take pride in offering fresh, healthy, and balanced school meals prepared daily in our on-site kitchen. Our menus are designed to be nutritious, appealing, and supportive of children’s growth and concentration.

High-Quality PE and Sport

Qualified Coaches: Every child takes part in PE sessions led by specialist, qualified coaches.

Borough Sports Tournaments: We proudly represent our borough in competitive sporting events, fostering teamwork, resilience, and school spirit.

Intensive Swimming Programmes: Pupils receive high-quality swimming lessons to build confidence and essential water safety skills.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

We believe that a healthy mind is as important as a healthy body.

Mental Health Lead: Mr McIntosh

Mental Health First Aiders: Ms Aironi & Mrs Negri

Mental Health Champion (Place2Be): Ms Formosa

The Power of You Project: A bespoke programme supporting emotional resilience, self-awareness, and wellbeing.

A Whole-School Approach to Health

Our Healthy School ethos extends across every part of school life:

  • Daily Activity: Active playtimes, movement breaks, and outdoor learning opportunities.
  • Health Education: Lessons on nutrition, personal hygiene, and emotional wellbeing are woven throughout the curriculum.
  • After-School Sports Clubs: A range of clubs and activities to inspire children to stay active.
  • Parent Partnerships: We work closely with families to encourage healthy lifestyles at home.
  • PSHE Curriculum: Supporting children’s social and emotional development, healthy relationships, and decision-making.

Our Commitment

At Saracens Broadfields, health and wellbeing are central to our mission. By combining nutritious food, active opportunities, and expert mental health support, we help every child develop the tools to lead a happy, healthy life.
